Brain Fitness & Smart Supps Part 2

This is the second portion of “Head to Toe” Fitness starting with the Brain. I’d like to do a special shout out to Mark Anderson, founder of ‘Back to School for Doctors’ and Selene River Press.org

He has a superb CD/MP3 format of Closed Head injuries that I’ve listened to multiple times, especially after my own Traumatic Brain Injury. It’s an excellent investment and something to share with patients/clients:

My other favorite Brain Fitness ‘smart supps’ are:

MediHerb Turmeric Forte

MediHerb Turmeric Forte

  • Constant stress erodes the ability of the body to produce BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor). Turmeric significantly increases BDNF after even a short period of use.
  • What distinguishes MediHerb Turmeric Forte from other forms of fenugreek infused Turmeric? Drop me a line to find out!
  • A recent question asked was this: Will Fenugreek interfere with Thyroid function or thyroid medications?
    • The short answer is No. We use the galactomannans from Fenugreek, so the “phytoactive” is not active in the formula. We use the Fenugreek fiber as a carrier of the curcuminoids. So it shouldn’t be a concern for thyroid interference.

Sydney Walker Acupuncture of Sonoma County shared a WAY COOL SUCCESS STORY on Turmeric Forte:

Sydney Walker on MediHerb Turmeric Forte

Hi Kim,

My most rewarding experience with MediHerb Turmeric Forte is that it helped and continues to help a patient of mine who had a concussion from a car accident. He received a diagnosis of being bi-polar, and was attempting to manage his symptoms with pharmaceuticals. He came to me to make sure that his liver and kidneys were ok in spite of the medication so I gave him nutritional support for that as well.

I gave him Turmeric Forte to help the pain and the anxiety and depression symptoms, and because curcumin has such a beneficial effect on all aspects of our health. I love that this form allows the full spectrum of curcuminoids to cross the blood-brain barrier and help with inflammation in the brain.

He’s reported that when he started taking the Turmeric Forte, he experienced the calm and the clarity and balance he used to have for the first time since the bi-polar symptoms and the medications.

Let me know if I can help further. It’s a great product.

MediHerb Vitanox

  • Maintains steady supply of glucose and enhances insulin sensitivity, keeping the brain running smoothly. Tannins may prevent brain damage that occurs after strokes and other brain injuries-lowering risk of dementia.
  • Aricept®  (donepezil) is the #1 drug therapy for Alzheimer’s. It’s a medicine that does one thing: it prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine. So does Rosemary.
  • Neuroprotective and prevents lipid peroxidation of brain cells.
  • Each tablet contains nearly 4.5 grams of green tea-at least 12xs stronger than an herbal capsule of green tea.  Each tablet also contains 1 gram of rosemary, 2 grams Turmeric and a whopping 6 grams of Grape Seed Extract, which is also in SP OPC Synergy
  • Excellent source of L-Theanine for increased reaction time, memory, and mental endurance. Increases dopamine, serotonin, and GABA. L-Theanine ameliorates over-excited nerves but sustains the energy.
  • Grape Seed Extract: appears to reduce aggregation of brain amyloid cells, improving cognition, and reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s.  Also found in SP OPC Synergy
