Hello, I am Dr. Ilya Skolnikoff. I attended Southern California University of Health Sciences Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and also the School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Whittier, California. Because the education that I was getting a SCUHS / LACC stressed more of the allopathic aspects of education, I transferred to Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward in Northern California where they emphasize more of a hands-on approach to chiropractic. Chiropractic is defined as “practicing by hand” or “being done by hand.”
How I was introduced to Standard Process
I was first introduced to Standard Process as a patient of Dr. Howard Cohn in Southern California. I knew the products were great because I felt so much better while using Standard Process. I was 23 or 24 years old at the time and now I am 50 years old. I mainly needed Drenamin and Cataplex GTF back in those days. I was under a great deal of stress and also needed help with my blood sugar since I did not really know what a healthy diet was at the time.
Later on, I learned about chiropractic as a patient of Dr. Zaida Rivene, Dr. Timothy D. Francis, Dr. Gary Kingman Fung, Jean-Paul Martinet in Oakland, Dr. Richard Belli in Sacramento, Dr. Bruce Shin in Temecula, Dr. Devi Nambudripad who developed N.A.E.T after having studied with Dr. Victor Frank whom had developed Total Body Modification — and from Dr. James Silva who was the one who had first suggested that I attend SCUHS LACC SAOM.
My father was a psychiatrist and when I told him I was planning on going to chiropractic school to become a chiropractor, he asked me if I could make a living at that. He said, “Can you actually make money doing that?” Those were his exact words, “Can you actually make money doing that?”
I responded with, “Yeah, dad, actually, some chiropractors do really well and make even more money than you do.”
My intention was never to become a billionaire, but rather, to help people heal and have better lives. My mentors whom were also my personal doctors all had something in common – they had used specific modalities that allowed them to exceland become better, more effective healers that the other chiropractors with whom I was not able to get as effective results. My new undertaking in life was to become the best doctor I could be. That was always my quest; that is my calling now and always will be. Just before turning 30 years old, I began to take the necessary science courses needed to enter chiropractic school. Before even beginning chiropractic school, my goal was to study chiropractic, acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, Total Body Modification, Neuro Emotional Technique, Professional Applied Kinesiology and Sacral Occipital Technique among others. I attempted to do the impossible, which was to study all of these things simultaneously. In addition, I would pour through the Medical Physiology textbooks in order to learn why the body functions in the way that it does. I was not skeptical. I took in the information.

I made it my personal mission to have as many tools in my toolbox with which to help my patients.
Today, I’m a Diplomate of the International Board of Applied Kinesiology (DIBAK). A DIBAK is like a master puzzle solver. Someone who is great at diagnosing the underlying causes of their patient’s health concerns and then treating those root causes with structural, chemical and emotional therapies that are specific just to the health needs of that individual on that particular day and at that particular time. We tend to attract a great deal of psychologists as patients, and we refer up to 20% of our patients out to optometrists.
