Introducing Lumiel Kim-Hammerich of East West Natural Medicine. Here’s more about Lumiel:
Not only am I credentialed to treat people with acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, but I charge very low fees because I am able to treat up to five people in the same hour, in a large community room, without asking them to disrobe. So you could say that my overarching business specialty is low fees, and the acupuncture specialty is joint and muscle pain as the most frequent condition treated.
I offer acupuncture and nutritional counseling. (If any patients show interest, I am more than happy to get up on my soapbox to tell the story of Dr. Royal Lee and why Standard Process is one of the top (if not the) supplement companies in the country.) In the near future I will also offer, in a different price range, specialized cupping.
This changes from month to month, depending on what I’m learning at the time. But of course, the all-time favorites are the basics: Cataplex D, Zinc Liver Chelate, Magnesium Lactate, one or more of the different B vitamin formulas, and one or more of the different fatty acid sources, as well as at least one digestive formula.
The Lockdown hit me hardest in late March and all through April. Almost all of my most loyal patients were terrified to come in, even when they badly needed their weekly treatment. Little by little a few started coming back, but less frequently, and at the same time new patients began showing a lot of interest. I’m still not back to the same numbers before the Lockdown, but I’ve managed to stay in business, partly because my landlord has been very generous about give his tenants a 50% reduction for the past few months. I am still open, but my hours have been shortened (which has been a pleasant outcome of this Lockdown for me, as the pace of living has slowed to a healthier level.)
I would love to send patients to a non-pesticide/GMO/gluten local restaurant, but none exists here, and hardly any exist in the Bay Area. To be involved in a small restaurant dedicated to the highest principles of feeding people would be a dream come true. Second to that would be to support a chef who can teach folks how to shop and how to prepare stunningly healthy, simple, beautiful and tasty meals daily. There are chefs in the area who qualify, but they must work for businesses that conform to clients’ taste preferences.
No one knows that I am my best success story and that I started out as the sickliest weakling who made plenty of doctor visits when I was a child, yet never was considered “sick”, just normal! It wasn’t until I was 25 years old that a serendipitous meeting in a park with some budding herbalists shocked me into another universe where people healed without drugs and surgery. In that week I first heard the name “Dr. Royal Lee” and never dreamed that 30 years later, as an acupuncturist, I would be formally introduced to the Standard Process teachings. I wonder if I would even be alive today, had that fortuitous meeting never occurred.
I really believe that I’ve enjoyed the success I’ve had because my services are affordable. Many patients who come in never ever consider consulting a nutritional consultant or a full-priced acupuncturist. When they suddenly need help and find me online in their neighborhood, they come to me because I’m local and affordable. Many first-timers never realize how low my fees are. I have always looked for DIY methods of healing that they can employ, even if it means that they won’t need me as often, because not only does it save them money, it gives them power and responsibility over their own health.
The other key to success is that I can mother the heck out of these people, and I ask them to make changes that are really hard (for them, at first), so I keep after them relentlessly. When they realize that I’m on their team, they seem to make an extra effort to succeed.
I believe Interference Fields insidiously retard healing, and like to address that with patients as an important part of their program. Interference Fields dampen the healing effects of all excellent modalities. They include dehydration, mold, electromagnetism from overexposure to smart meters and WiFi, lack of proper sleep, buildup of toxins from air, water, food and chemicals in cleaning and body products as well as poor oral health. I send people to chiropractors if I think they need good adjustments, and to biologic dentists if I suspect oral infections depressing their immune systems, and even Lyme Disease specialists. I’m sure I left something out, but you see what I’m trying to do.
Some people write best-selling books and become famous authors. I prefer to write chapters in other people’s books, as other influential people have done for me in my life. Some of them I still remember, their faces or first names, and have forgotten their full names, but will always be so grateful for the help they provided when I needed it. Some people have said that coming to my clinic saved their life, because they could afford that $20 a week for a little acupuncture (and my cascade of recommendations), their downward spiral was stopped, and motivated them to stop harmful habits and develop healthy diets and lifestyles. Really, can you imagine a more satisfying career?
